The model
In 1988, at the end of an already interminable career, the Aston Martin V8 had to find a replacement before bowing out for good. The Virage was to be the new face of the British marque as it entered the 1990s. Its introduction at the Birmingham Motor Show was a success, as the order book was quickly filled - it has to be said that customers had been waiting for a brand new model for more than 15 years!

The design of the Virage was largely based on the Zagato version of the V8, with softer edges and, above all, bumpers integrated into the front end. In 1990, the convertible version of the Virage was presented, and was naturally given the emblematic name of Volante. There were a number of aesthetic changes, with the addition of chrome elements such as the front grille and the outline of the headlights, as well as the appearance of engine cooling vents behind the front wheels.

The Virage's powertrain was based on that of the V8, with some significant updates. The V8 retained its displacement of 5.3 litres, but now had 32 valves instead of 16, and the Weber injection system was also introduced. The 330 bhp engine could be combined with either a 5-speed manual or an automatic ZF gearbox. Aston Martin later made a pack that allowed the engine capacity to be increased to 6.3 litres.

Virage, Virage Volante, Virage Volante LWB, Virage Vantage, Virage Shooting Brake, V8 Coupé, Vantage V600, Vantage V600 Le Mans...that's a lot of Virage, but the model was able to transform itself into every possible form to adapt to the crazy desires of clients in the 90s. Aston Martin also produced many one-offs, some of which ended up in the famous collection of the Sultan of Brunei, but that's another story... In the end, just over 1,000 Virage examples were produced at Newport Pagnell. Production came to an end in 2000, to be replaced by the Vanquish the following year.

The car
This highly elegant Aston Martin Virage Volante was produced in 1993. It is one of only 233 Virage Volante produced, one of only 27 examples equipped with the desirable ZF manual gearbox, and one of only 7 in left hand drive! A rarest opportunity, given that the V8 in these cars is renowned for being particularly “velvety” to drive.
Born red, it has recently been repainted in a very elegant “British Racing Green” metallic, which blends perfectly with the original black leather interior. Equipped with an electric hood, heated sports seats, a superb wooden dashboard, and its original radio from the 90's, it will offer you all the comfort you can expect!

Today we are happy to offer this 1990’s emblem of the British car industry, in superb condition and ready to drive any distance with a perfect mix of comfort and power. This Aston Martin Virage Volante is the ideal car to enjoy the French Riviera or any twisty road on a sunny day!
