The model
At the end of the 1950s, the XK model had its last incarnation, the XK150. Gentrified heir to
the XK120, Jaguar wanted to restore that fine balance between sportiness and comfort. After several prototypes with new shapes, the famous ‘E2A’ took to the track at the 1960 Le Mans 24 Hours under the banner of the Cunningham team to test some evolutions for the E-Type.

In 1961, Jaguar presented its latest model at the Geneva Motor Show - the E-Type was born. Its design, curves and long bonnet were the brainchild of aerodynamicist Malcolm Sayer, who was closely supervised by the brand's director, William Lyons. The lines of the E-Type were so striking that Enzo Ferrari himself called it the most beautiful car in the world.

For the first series, the aesthetic was irreproachable, but the mechanic was not to be outdone. Its chassis, largely inspired by the D-Type, was a monocoque extended by a tubular section at the front. The tubular cradle was filled with the 3.8 litres 6-cylinder XK engine, coupled to the Moss 4-speed gearbox, a combination that is as reliable as it is powerful.

The 3 series of the E-Type saw a number of mechanical upgrades, first an enlargement from 3.8 litres to 4.2 litres, but in the end a V12 was fitted to meet the needs of the American market. Aesthetically, the first series is considered by far the most elegant, thanks in particular to its slim bumpers and covered headlight.
Despite these changes, the E-Type is, and will remain, an iconic model in automotive history. It enabled Jaguar to continue to establish itself on the road and on the track as one of the greatest automotive brands.

The car
This example is an E-Type 3.8 Fixed Head Coupe, produced on 21 March 1963. It left the Jaguar factory with a “black” paint job and a “red” leather interior, just before boarding a boat to the Jaguar dealership in New York. It was then delivered on 8 April 1963 to live the American dream. The car spent most of its life in the USA before being reimported to Europe a few years ago.
Today, this car is presented to you in exceptional and mostly original condition. More than 62 years after leaving the factory, this E-Type kept all its original mechanical components, as well as its paintwork, leather, tool kit and cove. As you'll have gathered, this E-Type has only had particularly careful owners... but that's not all! They have also been very respectful of its history, keeping all its "old papers": owner's manual, purchase invoice and all the documents related to its past life on the other side of the Atlantic.
We are very happy to offer this iconic sports car, THE Icon, in perfect original condition and ready to drive any distance. This Jaguar E-Type represents a unique opportunity to buy such a time capsule, and will be the perfect candidate for preservation class in any concours d'elegance worldwide!
